There’s nothing like great training to create a successful Realtor.  And my friends, in some brokerages you will find nothing like great training.

All joking aside, some brokerages offer very little in the way of training and education.  Some brokerages offer incredible and ongoing training and education.  Learning about your craft and honing it through experience is the ONLY way to survive and thrive in the real estate profession.

There’s really no way around it and the best time to start training for the industry is as soon as you sign with your first brokerage.  You should be in training through educational class, online courses and even a mentor/coach to help you navigate your first few years in the business.

It may seem overwhelming, but take it one step at a time.  Let’s break down the different avenues of training.

In Person Trainings:

  • Can take place in different venues – meeting rooms, learning centers, local Realtor boards, or even conventions
  • Price Range is vast and can go from free to thousands of dollars. Usually if there is a charge, there may be some educational credits included that you can use to renew your license when it comes due
  • These can take place in your office, locally or may require that you travel.

Online Courses-

  • Online learning has become a hot ticket and they come in different formats:
    • Online classes with independent lessons
    • Video conferences with industry leaders
    • Facebook live events
    • Podcasts
  • Price Range for these can be free to usually a few hundred dollars.

Mentor/Coach

  • A mentor can be a more experienced agent who guides you through your first few transactions
  • A coach is an industry leader who holds you accountable to your goals and may be with you for many years or a few months. You may even go through a few different coaches depending on where you are in your business
  • Price Ranges for these may be part of your commission on closed sales for a mentor to hundreds/thousands of dollars a month for a coach.
